New York Fashion Week - Wrap Up

Fashion model and the New York correspondent for F.B.I.

I am thrilled to share with you the tends from NYFW Fall/Winter 2012. I walked in several shows, attended many shows and went to tons of parties. I'm exhausted, LOL!!! I love fashion week and so does the City of New York.

There are over 200 shows during fashion week around the city. 100,000 people attend these shows. The city takes in nearly $1 billion annually from twice yearly shows.

HIGHLIGHTS from the shows that created the most BUZZ.

The theme all around was LADYLIKE & PURE GLAMOUR, filled with rich textures. It reminded me of old Hollywood. The designer on everyone's lips was JASON WU. He was the bell of the ball.

JASON WU
The first Lady loves him and so do we. He put on such a dramatic show going back to basics. He revisited his roots with a Chinese dynasty theme. His clothes were simply GORGEOUS!!! They were rich, structured with a military flair. He recently designed a line for Target which sold out in seconds. If you want a piece of Jason Wu, check out Ebay.

VICTORIA BECKHAM
She previewed her collection to a pack house with her husband David Beckham, editor in Chief of American Vogue Anna Wintour, and her long time business partner Simon Fuller, all looking on from the front row. Her collection was sporty, confident, structured and fitted. It had an edge to it with motorcycle boots and cool accessories. She used her signature black with pops of bold colors. The editors loved her!!! After rave reviews, she was crowned Queen of fashion week. GOAL!!!

THE ROW
The Olsen twins collection was impressive!!! The line was luxurious, using fur, alligator, leather details on sleek, timeless, workable pieces. It was minimal with muted colors which worked for this collection. They have a high fashion collection and a line for JcPenny's. They are quietly doing a lot of good work and making a big splash in the fashion world.

Mary Kate & Ashley

CHRISTIAN SIRIANO
We know him as the winner of Project Runway. His fierce collection was chic, wearable sheaths in black and cropped leather jackets worn over flowing cocktail dresses. His style is beautiful, romantic with a slight gothic feel to it. I'm sure, we'll see some of his dresses grace the Oscar red carpet. Many stars came out to support his show. He has a huge following like a rock star.

DIANE VON FURSTENBERG
What an American classic, president of the Council of Fashion Designers of America. So naturally, her front row is a who's who of the fashion and media worlds, from husband Barry Diller to Anderson Cooper, Barbara Walters, Diane Sawyer, Oscar de la Renta, Solange Knowles, Molly Sims, Rachel Zoe and on and on. She had bold, timeless pieces that could transition from day to night. I especially loved her wrap like jump suits. Her collections are always refreshing, classic with vibrant color. They make me smile :)

OSCAR DE LA RENTA
He used unique hues of pink, gray, blues and blacks. His gowns were elegant and ruled the runway. Many thought his gowns would inspire the Oscar red carpet. What an dreamy style he has, what a collection. His designs leave you breathless, wanting more!!!

~ ALL THE SHOWS WERE FABULOUS ~

NYFW 2012 Fall/Winter was a huge success!!!

Tribute to Whitney Houston

Rest in Peace
Whitney Houston

By now, we have all heard about the passing of Whitney Houston. She in one way or another touched our lives with her beautiful voice. Whitney was one of the greatest singers of her generation with a voice that soared to great heights. I was a fan and admirer from the very beginning. I bought her 1st album "Whitney Houston" in 1985 and quickly spread the word amongst my friends about this incredible talent.

I also attended the movie premiere of the Body Guard. Everyone was there to see Whitney, the evening was electric. Her singing of "I will always love you" bought the audience to tears. It was a very touching night which I will always remember.

As the reports continue to filter through the media about her death, a possible drug overdose. Let's remember her awesome talent and not focus on the negative.

I saw an old interview with her and she said "I believe I am a child of God and that's what's important." I pray she is in heaven with God the Father. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends.

We'll always love you Whitney!

God Bless You

Welcome

AprilRain Productions presents F.B.I. Fashion.Beauty.Inspiration

Investigating life.....

I am the creator of AprilRain Productions. Welcome to our NEW BLOG

I had a life changing experience a year ago, I injured my back. My active life came to a streaking halt. I did much journaling about it. Then, a friend of mine suggested I start a blog. She called it "living out loud." Writing has always been a large part of my life.

I started writing at a young age, poems and short stories. I studied writing in college (Columbia College of Chicago) and wrote stage plays. After college, I moved to Hollywood and studied screenwriting at U.C.L.A. I then, got involved in the entertainment business and wrote for television and film. I am now a freelance screenwriter for my own production company. Writing is definitely a passion of mine!!!!

Please bear with me, I'm still in the process of setting up the Blog.
I would appreciate any advise or feedback.
We would like for this Blog to be interactive.
We will be covering many topics that give us inspiration:
Love.
God.
Fashion.
Beauty.
Health.
DYI.
What gives you inspiration????

Inspiration - The process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something.
